Virtual user groups for IMS and CICS professionals
The Virtual IMS user group and the Virtual CICS user group are a vendor-neutral, independently-operated, virtual user group for IMS (IBM's Information Management System) professionals and CICS (IBM's Customer Information Control System) professionals. The Virtual IMS user group can be found at www.fundi.com/virtualims. It was launched at the beginning of November 2007. The Virtual CICS user group can be found at www.fundi.com/virtualcics. It was launched in early 2011.
User group meetings take place every other month and a guest speaker gives a presentation relevant to the IMS or CICS user community.
The user group meetings last a little over an hour in total. Participation in meetings is free to members. You can join the Virtual IMS user group by clicking here to "sign up". You can join the Virtual CICS user group by clicking here to "sign up".
User group members also get a bi-monthly newsletter. Click here to find a recent issue from the Virtual IMS user group.
The Web sites contain details of future meetings, information about IMS-related and CICS-related articles and events, a list of IMS and CICS tools, and IMS and CICS news.
Vendors may want to ensure that their latest products are listed on the IMS Tools page, and the CICS Tools page (free listing for vendors).
An article about the Virtual IMS user group and Web site was published in the IBM IMS newsletter 0801.
